Frequently Asked Questions
Massage is shown to help reduce stress hormones like cortisol and promote the release of the hormones that help us feel our best, like dopamine, serotonin and oxytocin. Many people find that regular massage visits every 1-4 weeks helps them manage their symptoms and encourage their nervous system to self-regulate.
In circumstances where there is a history of trauma massage can be helpful for releasing tension patterns associated with the trauma and to encourage the self-regulation of the nervous system.
When using massage for managing symptoms of depression/anxiety/PTSD it is important to remember that a massage therapist is unable to diagnose or prescribe but can hold space and support the body to relax and self-regulate.
There are many studies from the Touch Research Institute, the Mayo Clinic and others that help understand the benefits of massage therapy for these issues.

Frequently Asked Questions
Prior to your session you will need to fill out a health history form. Afterward I will begin by asking you general questions to establish what areas you would like worked on, if there are any conditions needing to be addressed, and to determine if massage is appropriate for you and what type of massage will be most beneficial. I may perform certain assessments and testing to evaluate your condition and to see you have any presenting complaints.
It is important to list all health concerns and medications so that I can adapt the session to your specific needs without doing any harm. It is also important to list any allergies so that I am aware if the cream/oil I am using is safe.
No. It is completely up to you. I offer styles of massage that are fully clothed as well as types of massage that require skin exposure in order to apply massage cream/oil. Both types have many benefits and so whatever is most comfortable for you is what is best. However, if you do choose a style of massage that uses cream/oil then please rest assured you will be respectfully draped the entire time!
